Let's Do Something Different
Updated: Apr 30, 2019
It's 2016. It's Saturday. It's 8:00 a.m. It's my college self, waking up anxious and feeling guilty for not having already accomplished everything I felt I needed to accomplish that day.
It's 2019. It's Sunday. It's 4:49 p.m.
It's my latest self (a wiser, more resilient and grounded edition) who woke up feeling calm this morning, even a bit sluggish, but there was not an ounce of guilt in my body. I did practically everything I wanted to do this weekend, including sitting in my bed writing this post wrapped in a towel with semi-wet hair, because I want to. Not because I have to. And if there's something I didn't get to, I know I'll get to it, when I get to it.
Friends, I can't emphasize this enough: there is incredible beauty to be found in being, simply being. Not giving in to this urgency that swells within us saying, "you are only worth as much as you do". Your value is intrinsic. Truly, you are worth much more than my words can express because you are here, breathing, being. Our outside circumstances and accomplishments are added layers and gifts on top of everything you need, which is you.
Here's a little something to help remind you to stop and be this week (and always), my latest playlist: chill pill.
Psssssst: if you're looking for more of my playlists, you can find them here!
